How to take part

Celebrate National Rural Health Week in a way that works for you. Take inspiration from the five daily themes, try an activity below or bring your own ideas. A small gesture can be a meaningful way to connect.

• Make time to connect. Share a coffee, tea or treat with colleagues or community members.

• Take a moment together. Check in with someone, take a walk or enjoy a quiet moment in a place that sustains you.

• Share your rural view. Show us a landscape or community place that matters to you and tell us why.

• Thank someone. Write a note or recognize a colleague, mentor, volunteer or community partner who makes a difference.

• Start a conversation. Invite people to finish the sentence: “Rural health is built in relationships because…”

• Create your own activity. Choose something meaningful and invite others to take part.

Explore the daily themes and events. If you’d like, share a reflection or photo on the Relationship map or on social media using #RuralHealthWeek.

Map posts may be shared by National Rural Health Week partner organizations on their websites and social media. Please get permission from anyone whose photo or story you include, including for this wider sharing. Leave out personal health information.

Celebrate National Rural Health Week from October 19–23, 2026. This year’s theme, “Rural health is built in relationships,” celebrates the connections that strengthen rural health care across Canada.

The week will highlight the communities that welcome rural providers, the teams that sustain rural care, our relationships with the land, Indigenous knowledge, and the wisdom shared among people, communities and organizations.

National Rural Health Week is a celebration and a call to action. The campaign recognizes the need for better access to health care in rural communities, while supporting innovative solutions to rural health challenges.
